The Yankees get home field advantage because the American League won the All Star game.  In fact, the National League has not had the home advantage in the World Series since that rule started in 2003.  They have not won the All Star game since 1996!  That is really hard to believe.

All games will be carried by Fox.  The series will start on a Wednesday night as it has for the past couple of years.  This is supposedly for better ratings because the networks do not want to carry a game on Friday night.  Friday night is the night viewers watch the least TV besides Saturday night, and the networks don’t want to have back to back games on a Friday and Saturday.

So who will win?  I really think that the Phillies are going to win.  The Yankees are a very, very good team made of great players.  But I don’t think they are the best team in the series.  The Phillies are playing great baseball now.  They cleaned up their competition early and have had a few days’ rest.  And they certainly know the World Series drill after winning it all last year.  Interestingly enough, this will be the first time that most Yankee players have been in the World Series so expect them to be awestruck in the beginning.

How many games will the 2009 World Series go?  Well, baseball is hard enough to predict the winner much less in how many games.  But I think this will be a 7-game series.  If the Phillies are going to win it, they will have to do it in new Yankee Stadium.

For starters, check out Gold Leaf City. This incredible site, built around the No. 14 shaft of Crown Mines, is a complete and authentic reproduction of Johannesburg at the beginning of the 20th century. You can check out the simple furnishings that minors would have had with all the various fittings as well, including the famous pressed ceilings. The museum exhibits offer the chance to see antique clothing and children’s toys, all showing the visitor what life was like for those who lived in this bustling metropolis 100 years ago. A train goes around the perimeter of the park and many shops offer interesting knick knacks. You can also see the original gold mine in an elevator that goes down  220 meters below the surface. Finally, there is an onsite casino which never closes in case you’re in the mood to gamble away some of that gold.

If you’re coming to Jo-berg (as the natives call it) with kids or nature lovers, you might want to squeeze some time in in between the World Cup 2010 schedule to see Lion Park. This incredible safari like experience featuring four prides of lions, of various ages. They also have a number of rhino as well as other herbivores. The lions are fenced-in in a high-security area (so no need to be concerned about getting eaten – well not much of one anyway) while the rest of the park area is open to the other animals. For the brave hearted or foolish, you can actually have your picture taken with a lion cub, under supervision of course. A restaurant and gift shop are located in the shaded areas where you can also find picnic facilities.

Besides these, there is lots more to see so make sure you don’t miss any of it. Plan your visit and check the 2010 World Cup Schedule carefully so you know what to see and when to see it!

The Los Angeles Angels do have a bright future ahead of them and have made their fans quake in anticipation for the coming 2010 season. In fact, at end of their 2009 season 3,240,386 fans came to Angel Stadium to see the Angels play. For their 81 home games they averaged 40,004 and that was good enough for fifth among the 30 MLB teams.

The next set of games and teams to play will be kick off on Sunday September seventh. These games already have set locations. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be playing the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans to start off the first weekend of spectacular NFL football. The Saint Louis Rams will be playing at the Philadelphia Eagles stadium as well. On this Sunday the New York Jets will be playing at Miami as well as Kansas City playing at New England. Houston will be playing at Pittsburgh, Cincinnati will be playing at Baltimore, Detroit will play in Atlanta, Seattle will visit Buffalo, Jacksonville will play in Tennessee, Dallas will be at Cleveland, Carolina at San Diego, Arizona at San Francisco, and Chicago at Indianapolis. Tickets for these games are already for sale and can be bought over the internet or at your local Ticketmaster outlet. All these games will be starting around one in the afternoon if you are watching on your television or if you have the National Football League Sunday ticket from a satellite provider. On Monday September eighth Minnesota will be playing at Green Bay and Denver at Oakland. More than one game for Monday Night Football for week one! These tickets are also ready for sale. These are all the games for week one of the NFL football schedule for 2008.

Week two of the NFL schedule for 2008 starts on Sunday September fourteenth. The games held on this day include: Oakland at Kansas City, Green Bay at Detroit, Tennessee at Cincinnati, Chicago at Carolina, Buffalo at Jacksonville, New Orleans at Washington, Indianapolis at Minnesota, New York Giants at Saint Louis, San Francisco at Seattle, Atlanta at Tampa Bay, Miami at Arizona, New England at New York Jets, Baltimore at Houston, San Diego at Denver and Pittsburgh at Cleveland.
